Rep Kelly is willing to do something - how about the rest of Congress
So what will we do today to demand that our candidates and both houses of Congress are going begin to change the way they are doing business and really do something for us. Rep. Mike Kelly, R, Pennsylvania decided to try in the speech that he made yesterday. Take a look and lets agree that we need to do things together. NOT Red or Blue - but Red White and Blue - wow is he right !!!!

THIS SENIOR IS UPSET
Just watched 60 Minutes on Homeless Children, Florida. Must have missed this the first time around. This is the United States of America. We should be ashamed of what is going on in this country and should be shouting to both candidates and Congress to really get with the program. Instead of raising all of that money for ads that have empty words, lets get talking about what you and the congr...ess might really do to create more jobs and better educate our children. Maybe you, the candidates, should take a week to live in a truck or a car with your families to make it hit home. Come on I dare you.
In June alone both candidates raised a total of $314 Million Dollars. Their high dollar expeditures of around $50 million went for those ads that are expensive and say nothing. Now I ask you - who listens to the ads and who do they help.
All of you that are contributing this money should find a better cause - perhaps the "Families in Transition" programs or similar where people like Beth Davalos, are really doing something to make the country a better place.
Its about time we get serious and demand that the people who represent us have a plan to help us become number one again in education and health care. Demand a plan that will create new jobs. Instead of using facebook for all the nonsense of he said, she said, and re-posting all of the hate ads, let's just demand some answers to the questions we all have. Both parties are at fault.
Let's change the way we put someone in office. Everyday let's demand to know what the plan is until we get one and are satisfied that someone we vote for will really create a better life for all. AMEN

The Photography Class - basic class at City College Fort Mason was fun and I recommend it if you want to be pushed to get out there and shoot. We had to photo in Chinatown, Fort Mason, the Community Garden at Fort Mason and at Aquatic Pier, end of Van Ness. Have you ever been forced to take pictures of people on the street? I was not very comfortable taking those portraits at any of these venues, but it did get easier and produced some great portraits from all of the class. We were also asked to do some landscapes and the class produced some great ones. The good ones will be on display in the City College entrance way at Fort Mason. Great way to meet some interesting people and we have promised to try and do the next class in October. By the way the parades festivals, street corners etc are great places to capture people just being in their element. The Gay Pride Parade was a terrific place to grab some great shots.
A few months ago I bought a Groupon type coupon for a Photography Class with Krystal Donovan. (krystaldonovan.com www.krystaldonovan.com/ This weekend I spent 3 hours with Krystal at Coyote Hill in Fremont, Ca. The workshop was unbelievable. She taught everything from the buttons on your camera to how to shoot in aperture, shutter and manual. I don't know how she was able to get it all in and I took over a hundred pictures. Did I say - no one else showed up and I was one on one. How lucky was that?? The class was so good, that I decided to take her class the following day at Muir Beach. She did not disappoint and even though several people showed up she was able to again get through all the camera stuff and we shot many many photos. She gave one on one instruction to all. Get to her blog or website and when she is in San Francisco - get in on a class. She is now living in San Diego. Meet Krystal.

Time to get moving
Well, I have been in San Francisco about 6 weeks. My son made it easy for me to change addresses by building me a little apartment behind his garage in his house. Now I am a "cellar dweller" (see below) with a little patio and all the fine amenities of a lovely one bedroom apartment. I even have little visitors from the main house, when they need to sneak a cookie from the always full jar.
So... what do I do as a new resident of the city. The people in the big house are pretty nice, and accommodating by keeping me busy with dinner requests and "pick up" schedules. Even though "Granny" duties are fun, I will need some adult friends and activities. So I will start out with the following:

Even though "Granny" duties are fun, I will need some adult friends and activities. So I will start out with the following:
- Sign up for a photography class - found one at City College at Fort Mason.
- Wander around the neighborhood and find a good coffee house.
- Check out the Muni schedule.
- Look for a Tai Chi class.
- Get the newspaper to see what is going on in the city that might be fun for a single person.
- Find a supermarket - we all have to eat.

New to San Francisco and I need to make friends, learn the city and just plain start a new life out here in the West. New York was wonderful and I tried to learn all I could. Loved the City that never slept and learned everything I could about it. Now it is time to move on in the twilight of my life.
So, here goes. I will try to report on my adventures and share them with anyone who might want to read and share this new beginning. Please, any advise you have will be greatly appreciated.
I am going to construct this blog over the next weeks and get going on my new life's journey.
